The Many Different Ways that Our Lives Have Been Impacted by Aviation

automotive tool kitsI occasionally ponder how things change the way we live. For example, something like aviation. We have the tendency to think about flying as a type of transportation and naturally is true. But just how much of a role does air travel really play in our daily lives?

Why don’t we initially consider just one type of airplane. Take the Boeing 737, for example. First brought into service in the early 1960s and it, this aircraft has been operated pretty well constantly ever since. Obviously, there have been some changes. Slight adjustments to enhance performance and safety for example. This is no different than other plane. Consider this though: there is said to be a Boeing 737 taking off somewhere every five seconds. Just think about that for a moment. Of course, this is just one single make of plane. These figures come from data compiled from reputable air traffic movement sources.

Take a look at your television set daily. I can guarantee that you’ll spot an image of a Boeing 747 – or a jumbo jet as it is popularly known. These aircraft carry between 400 and 500 individuals at time over distances of thousands of KM every day.

Now I have given examples of just a couple of the more popular planes in the world nowadays. Planes we are familiar with and ones that if we take a trip occasionally, we’re likely to use for both short and long haul journeys.

Why don’t we check out a different manner in which aviation could possibly affect all of us. A lot of hospitals nowadays have facilities for landing helicopters. These are used for a variety of things in our daily lives. The one I’m referring to is the lifesaving machine that transports an unfortunate person from something like a road accident in the quickest possible way, thereby reducing the amount of time before the person can be given treatment.

We also see helicopters – possibly daily – anytime we travel on motorways to our workplaces. Helicopters are used to observe traffic congestion and are able to report whenever there is a necessity to send out emergency vehicles.

Up until now I have mainly to the subject of aviation in our every day lives and specifically what are referred to as civil aircraft. Nevertheless, we do not realise that we’re also being protected by military aircraft that fly in our skies. Typically we don’t hear or see them – but they are there, or at least I presume they are.

Day in day out there are military planes flying somewhere around the world, often not taking part in military exercises, but in fact performing life-saving acts such as supplying food to impoverished people and flying much needed medicines and other supplies to remote parts of the planet.

We should also take into consideration how every one of these different kinds of aeroplanes are kept in the air. I’m not talking about the dedicated pilots and air crews here, although they play a crucial part in guaranteeing our safety and security safeguarding us when we fly, but instead the specialists on the ground who take care of and maintain the aircraft. Such people make use of their abilities and knowledge every single day, along with specialist aviation tools, and the fact that air travel is just about the safest way to travel can only be due to their diligence and professionalism.

You would simply be amazed at the variety of specialist tools that these experts make use of. For example, you may recognise some like pliers and screwdrivers as being the types of tools you would also find in any other type of tool kit but others such as endoscopes you probably wouldn’t be familiar with at all.

It’s easy to take for granted all of the advantages that air travel brings us in the modern world. Undoubtedly though it has become something we have come to depend upon so much and simply wouldn’t be capable of living without.
